Loco Show Co., the university’s Musical Theatre Society has finally returned to in person performances after having 2 years stuck online. The standard this year was incredible, with our members showing so much talent in our production of Peter Panto. It was lovely to see how much it meant to our members to be able to perform again. We also had such amazing support from fellow students, sports, societies, families and friends. Without this support, the show wouldn’t have been possible so we are so grateful to each and every person who gave us support.
Semester 2 has our summer musical, which rehearsals have already begun for. Our summer production of 9 to 5 the Musical is set in 1979, showing the gender hierarchy of the workplace in its time and how 3 strong, independent women change the ways of a male-led company. The show will take place in May and we are so excited to show how our members have progressed as performers since Peter Panto. We are happy to welcome new members into the show, both in cast and in band and are so excited to work with everyone!
We are also putting on a new event for members only, called “Loco Live!”. This will be a relaxed night in which our members will be able to showcase a piece they have been working on and get feedback from their peers. We are very excited for this night and to see all of our members thrive in their own way.
Being a part of peter panto was the highlight of my year. It was so nice to be back on stage performing live with my loco family. The entire process from auditions to rehearsals to the show has been so much fun and I can’t wait to do it all again for our summer musical, 9 to 5!
