As a team we have had a challenging but incredibly rewarding and educational semester one. We only had three returning players, meaning the rest of our team are ‘frisbee freshers’ and are still learning all the skills and tactics needed to play Ultimate Frisbee. With the majority of our BUCS games being in semester one, our fixtures have been a huge learning curve! But the resilience and positivity from our team has been truly inspirational, they have been the absolute epitome of the #teamworc values, representing the University of Worcester to the highest standard.
Each week, our team has learnt from the previous games, and put all our hard work at training into practise to make some really big improvements! Our ability to read the game, and adapt our play to suit different situations has improved week on week. We have had some long journeys to away games, and battled the wind in extremely challenging frisbee conditions, but have thoroughly enjoyed all of our games. Unfortunately, our learning and effort has not been reflected in the game results, but to us, this is irrelevant.
We are so proud of our team for adapting to each game and learning on the job, being thrown in at the deep end and coping each week with positivity, but most importantly, enjoying our time at games and training! Our team is such a positive and friendly environment, where we win together, and lose together, but always support each other no matter what. As a group, we are now making huge steps towards being a strong and competitive Ultimate Frisbee team, which later this year, and looking to the future, will be full of experience and knowledge!
As a club, we are always looking to recruit new members, whether they want to train recreationally, or compete in the BUCS league with us. If you think you might be interested, or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to look at our page on the Students Union website to find our contact details and training times!
