January has been an extremely exciting month for the Worcester Sinners and a great start to 2023. We were able to get gorgeous team photos for all Sapphires (Pom team), Topaz (Level 1 stunt team) and Royals (Level 2 stunt team) in our new bows and competition kit. This was also our lead up to competition week so we held a mini competition session where both Topaz and Royals could perform their routines to Sapphires. This was such a great atmosphere and both teams were able to practice in front of a mini audience ready for the big day on the Saturday.
Tuesday 24th January 2023 – I was given the opportunity to go onto BBC Hereford and Worcester Radio station to be part of an interview with Travis Prior who is the organiser of BCA Cheer and Dance competitions. I spoke about all things Cheer and how successful cheer is becoming especially within UK universities. This was a proud moment for myself and the Sinners as we want to publicise cheer as much as we can!
Saturday 18th January 2023 was the big day! It was our very first stunt competition on our home turf at the Worcester University Arena! Both teams were extremely excited to get onto the mat and hit their stunts. We were also fortunate to lead a take over day on UKUniCheer Instagram page. This page enabled all university cheerleading teams across the UK and further to follow us on our competition day, from arriving at the Arena, to warming up and finally to results. It was such a fun and thrilling day that everyone was able to experience together with both teams, friends and family that came along to show their support. From the Sinners we want to thank everyone who came along to cheer us on and support us from the sideline!! We came home proud and bringing home the 2nd place banner!!

Following our success on the Saturday we then held a Bring a Friend to training session on Monday 30th January 2023!! This was a massive success, not only raising money for our club to go towards new mats, music and transport fees, but we had a great turn out of 75 people! We started with a brilliant Zumba warm up led by our pom coach Helen and moved onto rotations of pom and jumps, stunting and tumbles. The feedback we had was amazing and we look forward to hopefully running it again in the near future. It was so fulfilling to see so many people turn up and give it there best go! Cheer is such an amazing sport and we want to broadcast it to make it even more well known.

We are currently working hard at training sessions as our next competition is Sunday 19th February in Manchester.
We finished our last day of January with an exciting pom session where we have nearly finished our whole routine ready for our competition at Blackpool Tower Ballroom on the 18th March 2023!
From all the Worcester Sinners, we have had such an exciting month and we can’t wait for the rest of the year! Thank you!
